Height, Water, Blockage
Jun. 13th, 2007 06:07 pmWell, I got the fire- axe away from Q after she only managed to blunt it a little on the poured concrete stairs. It's probably our best choice in case of further encounters. I'm going to bet that at least some apartment on an upper floor was either outright abandoned earlier or the residents died to other causes. Z is OK at stairs, and I'm worried about doors that open inward (apartments), but I think that once we get out of the stairwell, any that manage to shamble up the stairs will be trapped, as you can pound pretty hard on the hinge-side of a fire door and not do much. A (non-working very shortly) fridge or two would probably be wise in any event.
I'm most worried about drinking water, as while a well-stocked kitchen can keep us for a few days (my current planning horizon), unless we happen across someone's home water cooler, we're going to be short on that. There should be pressure for a few hours more at least and we can maybe get some tubs and pots filled.
Next stop, a higher floor. I'm going to try for ten or more, at least.
