Splashdown
Jan. 15th, 2009 11:39 pmI turned around less than a second too late to see the plane hit the water. I did get to see the water settle and every phase of the evacuation and rescue, though. I would like to complement the pilot, the flight crew, and the captains of all those ferries. The disembarkation could easily have been the exact one depicted on the seatback cards, or in the short safety films about what to do in case of water landing, and the ferries, normally sedate whales, tore up the Hudson on their way to pick up the passengers and crew, leaving broad wakes and noticeably tilting back towards their stern from speed.
And as to the pilot, kudos on selecting excellent plans A through C, and excellent execution of Plan C.
